Terms & Conditions

These terms cover your use of exifinfoviewer.com and the free tools on it. They are deliberately short, because the service is free, needs no account, and never takes possession of your files.

Agreement

By using exifinfoviewer.com (the "site") and the EXIF viewer and EXIF remover on it (the "tools"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

The service

The tools read and remove metadata from image files. All processing happens locally in your browser; we do not receive, store or process your images on any server. The service is provided free of charge, with no account, no subscription and no usage quota.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the site to:

  • process images you have no legal right to handle, or use the metadata you extract to stalk, harass, locate or endanger anyone;
  • strip metadata in order to conceal the origin of material where doing so breaks a law, a court order or an obligation you are under — including copyright and licensing attribution requirements;
  • attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities without permission, or interfere with anyone else's use of it;
  • resell, rebrand or present the tools as your own service, or scrape the site at a scale that degrades it for other people.

You are responsible for the images you process and for what you do with the results.

Your files and your rights in them

You keep every right you have in the images you open. Because the files never reach us, we acquire no licence, no copy and no interest of any kind in them. Nothing in these terms grants us permission to use your content, because there is no mechanism by which we could receive it.

Our content

The site's design, code, text and graphics belong to ExifInfoViewer and are protected by copyright. You may use the tools freely and link to any page. You may not copy the site wholesale to republish it elsewhere. The open-source libraries the site depends on remain under their own licences.

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. Image formats and metadata standards are messy in practice: a file may contain tags we do not decode, or store information in a proprietary block that no browser-based tool can reach.

This matters most for removal. The EXIF remover is thorough and verifies its own output, but you should not treat it as a guarantee of anonymity in a high-risk situation. Metadata can also be re-added by anything that touches the file afterwards, and the visible pixels of a photo can identify a place or a person regardless of what the metadata says. If the stakes are serious, verify the cleaned file yourself — you can re-open it in our EXIF viewer to check — and take advice appropriate to your circumstances.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ExifInfoViewer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages, nor for lost data, lost profits or privacy harms arising from your use of the site — including any consequence of metadata that was not detected, not removed or removed when you did not want it to be. Because the service is free and processes nothing on our servers, our total liability to you is limited to zero. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case those exclusions do not apply to you.

Always keep your original file. The remover never modifies the file you select; it produces a new one, so your original remains intact.

Third-party links

The site links to third-party resources, and the optional map is served by OpenStreetMap. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time, and we may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts there have jurisdiction over any dispute. This does not remove consumer-protection rights you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
